I was a developer at BMW group and worked on the watchOS BMW Connected app for their vehicles. I worked with designers and other developers on my team to develop features used by BMW customers all over the world. I developed UI screens from a designer into working features that let users honk the horn, flash the lights, or lock their vehicle.
We worked as a small team of 3 engineers (including myself), 1 designer, and 1 QA engineer who oversaw a team of testers. We focused primarily on the watchOS app but worked closely with a much larger team located in Chicago that build the iOS BMW Connected app. Because watchOS and iOS are so closely related, I had to learn how the iOS codebase worked as well and we coordinated frequently with the Chicago team to deliver feature updates.
We worked in an agile manner following standard practices like 2 week sprints and regular code review. We worked closely with QA to resolve bugs and ship feature updates on time and in sync with other product launches in the BMW organization.
